How to Wear Cashmere - Stuart Williamson

How to Wear Cashmere - Stuart Williamson

The Red Admiral is unmistakable, powerful and presents the first colour drop of our SS21 Collection. Featuring inky blues, with pops of red currant and accents of tartan. We asked our SS21 stylist Stuart Williamson how to style his favourite pieces from our first drop of the season, Admiral.

A Simple Cardigan and Scarf Styling Idea

This was one of my favourite styling combinations from the shoot. I love the colour of the scarf and the cardigan.

The scarf has a lightweight, textured handle to it and the checked, madras, tartan pattern creates a casual collegiate look when paired with the chunky cardigan. The cardigan has a nice, thick body to it and it looks great when it's worn oversized so it's easy and slouchy. It also looks great worn over the shoulders.

Wear it with a simple crew neck t-shirt or shirt in neutral tones like white, ecru or navy to frame the red. Don't be too precious about tying the scarf and don't worry about creases, this looks better when it's worn in. The cotton quality means that the Cottlea would be great summer scarf for taking on walks and hikes…and it dries fast if you are caught in a Summer shower. I think both pieces look great for both men and women, just be sure to keep it loose or oversized and not too fitted.

Ways to Wear a Checked Scarf

The subtle colour and pattern of this scarf can really lift and bring interest to an otherwise monochromatic navy or white look. The palette is quite muted with stripes of subtle colour. I've knotted it like a boy scout but it could also be wrapped around one more time to create a neckerchief which works regardless of gender, or ladies could tie it over their hair as a bandana.

This Staffa ribbon scarf has a nice, light, dry handle with textural fringe detailing. On the campaign shoot, I tied it into a triangle bandana and paired it with a lightweight summer blazer. The bandana styling loosens up the tailoring and highlights the fringe detailing. It would also look great worn with cotton workwear, a white shirt or a fresh crew neck t-shirt. It's a perfect square, so it's a great size to style in a few different ways, keep the chill off your neck, as well as bringing a flash of graphic colour to an outfit.

Styling Tips for Lightweight Scarves

This Fiji Heron scarf is light and silky. The weave is super lightweight so even though it's a big scarf, it's not at all heavy.

I love the graphic mix of grey and shades of blue with the dark fringe finish. This scarf would work for both men and women and could be dressed up or down. It could be worn over the shoulders on a Summer evening or loosely tied around the neck through the Spring months.

Simple Styling Tips For Men's and Women’s Beanies

I have worn this beanie throughout Winter. The great thing about the Bi-Colour beanies, is that it is like getting three hats in one. Wear it with the bright blue when you want bright colour or flip it around and wear the more subtle darker indigo blue or, like me, have the split running down the middle. The shades of blue in the bi-colour work well with the other blues in the SS21 collection. Shades of navy and blue look great on any skin tone and are a sophisticated alternative to wearing all black.

How to Style a Classic Cashmere Sweater

The Pablo unisex sweater in red and grey is a modern update on the classic Breton stripe. The tomato red of the stripe on the schoolboy grey makes a handsome graphic combination. This sweater looks great with lots of colours such as navy, black, khaki, or stone and could be styled with jeans, chino's, work pants or shorts heading into Spring. Layer it over a fresh white crew neck for a flash of white at the neck.
