We catch up with Scottish photographer, Sarah Fergsuon. Sarah takes us on a journey around Scotland, from Gairloch to Achmelvich bay via Glencoe, sharing her advice for planning a Scottish Staycation alongside some tips on how to style cashmere accessories.

You recently visited the Scottish Highlands, can you tell us about your Scottish road trip?

We rented a VW campervan from our friends at Staycation Scotland for 4 nights and travelled up to our first campsite in Gairloch. It’s our first holiday as a family of four and the very first time we’d travelled in a van with the children so we took it easy and stuck to the west Coast before heading in land towards Glencoe on the way home. Our second campsite was Achmelvich bay which has the most breathtaking beaches I’ve ever seen. Scotland truly is an absolutely stunning country to explore!!

The Scottish Highlands are full of beauty spots, from idyllic beaches to hidden hiking trails. Where was your favourite spot? Did you find any hidden gems?

I actually think my favourite spot was swimming in the river surround by Munros when we camped in Glencoe. You feel so small and insignificant and I love that feeling of Mother Nature and her elements being so vast and great! It really is an exceptional part of Scotland.

What are your top tips for planning a Scottish roadtrip?

Plan your route! It’s so easy to get caught up on A roads and B roads when you’re driving up the Scottish coast, so I would definitely plan your route, your stops and your campsites! Probably most importantly, camp responsibly so we can still maintain our wonderful right to roam throughout the country!

The Begg x Co Voyage accompanied you on your trip. It’s the ultimate travel piece for its versatility – it can be worn as a blanket and an accessory. When packing for a trip, what are your travel essentials?

I always want to bring home comforts with me, just incase it gets particularly cold or wet. So warm wool is always at the top of my list. Hats, scarves and a blanket, even if you think it will be sunny, guaranteed Scotland will throw a curve ball at you at some point!

You are passionate about sustainable fashion, from conscious consumption to the materials you wear. What are your tips for a slower approach to fashion?

Take care of your clothes and only buy what you need! It’s so easy to fall victim to trends and to buy into the idea that new will make us feel good… but having something for a long time will make you feel even better!

We loved how you styled the Wispy Hanover Superfine Cashmere Square, can you share any tips for how to style cashmere accessories?

Cashmere is such a gorgeous wool and the light weight scarves are just perfect for early autumn and late summer as they won’t make you over heat. The scarves are so easy to style that really less is more and they drape so beautifully over a nice T-shirt.
